Getting dressed quickly chart
This method after 2 years of school is the only one that really works for my daughter, this morning she beat the timer by 6 minutesFor once there was no shouting, no cajoling from me for her to get dressed, normally even setting the timer and constantly reminding her she goes over by at least 2-3 minutes. This morning there was no shouting, no reminding and I was totally shocked at how well it worked as she still has 6 minutes to spare.
What did I do, well I printed out the star chart below and taped it to her bedroom mirror. This is her main thing, she will spend a lot of time looking in the mirror and the constant reminder every time she looked in the mirror seemed to spur her on. She still had over 6 minutes left on the timer (I set it for 15 minutes).
Most phones come with a stop watch use that. Tell them you are setting the timer and that if they are dressed in time they will get a star on the chart, if they get all the stars filled then they get a treat. It doesn't have to be money or a present, a film to watch at the weekend of their choice, play their favourite game for 20 minutes, bake some cakes. Anything, they can even decide on the treat this will give them more incentive. I have done 5 weeks on the chart, but you could just do it at the end of every week.
