How to clear your skin of psoriasis

Based on personal experience and research, a strict diet and natural remedies may significantly improve psoriasis symptoms. Below is a guide to help you get started.

Strict Anti-Psoriasis Diet

  • Core Foods: Eat only fresh meat (e.g., chicken, fish, beef) and vegetables (especially greens like spinach or kale). Avoid processed foods.
  • Drinks: Stick to water. Small amounts of unsweetened, non-dairy tea or coffee are okay.
  • Foods to Avoid: Eliminate wheat, sugar, and dairy completely. These are common triggers for psoriasis flare-ups.
  • Duration: Follow strictly for 12 weeks. Many notice major improvements within 2 weeks.
  • Tips for Success:
    • Start small: Try cutting out wheat or dairy first if the full diet feels overwhelming.
    • Replace dairy with almond or hazelnut milk, which can be tastier and are psoriasis-friendly.
    • Don’t worry about calcium—green vegetables provide plenty (like they do for large animals such as horses).
    • Be cautious with “cheat” foods. Even small amounts (e.g., a slice of cake) can cause immediate flare-ups, like swelling, blisters, or worsened skin.

Additional Remedies

  • Aloe Vera: Apply pure aloe vera gel to affected areas up to three times daily to reduce redness and scaling. Look for products with at least 70% aloe.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar: Dilute with water (1:3 ratio) and apply to the skin or scalp to relieve itching. Avoid open wounds to prevent irritation.
  • Oatmeal Baths: Soak in a lukewarm bath with finely ground colloidal oatmeal for 15-20 minutes to soothe itching and inflammation.
  • Turmeric: Take 1-2 grams of turmeric powder daily (in food or capsules) or apply a turmeric paste to reduce inflammation. Consult a doctor for long-term use.
  • Coconut Oil: Apply virgin coconut oil to moisturize and soften plaques. Use after bathing to lock in moisture.
  • Dead Sea Salt: Soak in a bath with 1-2 cups of Dead Sea salt for 15 minutes to reduce scaling and irritation. Use 1-2 times weekly.
  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Consume foods like salmon, flaxseeds, or fish oil supplements (1-2 grams daily) to potentially reduce inflammation.
  • Tea Tree Oil: Dilute with a carrier oil (1:10 ratio) and apply sparingly to affected areas for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. Patch test first.
