Turning the Tables: How to Make TV Licensing Pay for Their Own Nuisance Letters
If you are fed up with the constant barrage of intimidating letters from TV Licensing demanding payment for a licence, there is a simple tactic I have been using and others to push back and potentially increase their costs. The idea is to force TV Licensing (and by extension, the BBC) to pay extra postage fees on their unsolicited mail.
The method involves receiving one of their standard letters – then popping it into a normal envelope, with the address of the tv licensing on. Use this address: TV Licensing, PO Box 578, Darlington DL98 1AN.
If you put this in a plain envelope with no stamp and no return address, they will have to pay £5 to get the letter, and since this address is used for payments, they will accept and pay it.
Stand firm – every returned letter is a tiny dent in the machine.
